An investigation has been launched by Maryland State Police detectives in Brunswick after a 16-year-old was targeted by an unknown mustachioed man who is now wanted for the near abduction.

The teen said that at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, she was walking along Knoxville Road in Brunswick when a small black vehicle - possibly a minivan - stopped, with the driver asking the girl if she wanted a ride home.

For unexplained reasons, the girl accepted the free trip, which quickly became a trail of terror for the teen.

Once she was inside the car, the man allegedly made sexually explicit comments and attempted to lock the doors of the vehicle to prevent her from leaving. She was ultimately able to escape the van and ran home.

The driver continued to drive toward Brunswick, while the teen told her mother what happened, and she alerted the police to the attempted kidnapping.

Police described the suspect as being a White man who is approximately 50 years old with a pale complexion and possible speech impediment.

He is between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9 with a medium to heavy frame. He is bald, has brown eyes, a mustache, and mole on the right side of his face. He was driving a small black vehicle, possibly a minivan, at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or attempted kidnapping has been asked to contact investigators at the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack by calling (301) 600-4150.
